A good friend of mine gave me a bottle of his bobcat lure so that I could try and get my first bobcat on a trail camera. I put the Spypoint IR-6 in the Jefferson National Forest on a point above a rock outcrop. It seemed like a logical place to set a camera trap for a bobcat.
I went back a week later as I could not stand it any longer. No signs of a bobcat but the deer sure liked it. Especially one young doe who was in the area one mid-afternoon with her momma.
I use lures ALL the time...and I usually get deer. Not sure why. Where are you located?
ReplyDeleteI am in the Roanoke valley, Virginia. Where the camera is now is a new area to me so I am not sure of bobcat numbers. Thanks for the reply!!
DeleteHmm here in the Finger Lakes of NY I think they're few and far between, BUT they are here. I have a new REALLY stinky, all purpose carnivore scent I'm waiting to break out and use. Conducting a field study this spring using scents and camera traps...hopefully and nice fluffy kitty comes in!
DeleteI have an electronic e-caller that has a photo-cell built in headed my way. Can't wait to give it a try to lure one in.
ReplyDeleteA trail camera is really useful especially when you're in the wild. Anyway, great shots!
